Facebook Has Over 500 Million Users

Believe it or not, Facebook announced it signed up its 500 millionth user on Wednesday. The company launched in 2004 and it took them almost 4 years to sign up 100 million users, so this is quite a milestone. When Facebook first launched, it was utilized more by the younger generation. However, nowadays, you see older people using the social networking website. My husband’s 70 year old aunt has an account – she’s so hip! The company has certainly had its fair share of issues with privacy, bullying, etc. But all in all, the website has made its mark, and it’s connected so many people in the U.S. and around the world (around 70% of the current user base now comes from outside the U.S.).
