2009-2010 - A Great Publicity Club Season
Dear Pub Club friends and members…
Wow, what an incredible year this has been!
When the 2009-2010 Publicity Club season began, our Board of Directors gathered for an informal planning session to map out goals.
Our goals were varied…we wanted to engage members…to increase programs…add social media to our specialty…breathe new life into Bell Ringers…launch a blog…and the list could go on.
What I didn’t expect is that we would realize so many of them…here are a few highlights:
- We introduced a judging exchange program with Publicity Club of Chicago for the Bell Ringers
- We launched a Social Media Workshop series and successfully hosted four programs focused on both the practical application and future of social media and public relations
- We ushered in the Pub Club blog…”The Bellringer”
- We hosted a PR Rising Star event which I consider a true highlight of the year
- We announced the Super Bell winner before 10 pm…possibly unprecedented!
Of course behind each of these highlights was a team of 20 dedicated volunteers and our extremely talented co-Executive Directors, Kelly Woodsum and Katie Sullivan. Kelly and Katie have been tireless in their dedication to the success of Publicity Club and we are all so thankful to you both.
For me…the goal was a bit simpler. I wanted to put the ‘Pub’ back in Pub Club and have fun with the year. It’s my hope that the Board of Directors would agree that this mission was accomplished. I am tremendously proud of our many achievements this year and thank each and every Board member for the hard work and time invested in the Pub Club.
While we’re so fortunate to have many of the dedicated volunteers returning next year, we are saying farewell to several long-standing members of our board who have made tremendous contributions over the years. To Michael Dowding, Risa Burgess and Meagan Ellis…we wish you each the best and thank you so much for the immeasurable impact you’ve made to the club. You will each be dearly missed.
It has been my distinct honor to be the President of Publicity Club this year. I am truly thankful to the Board of Directors and the Pub Club membership for this opportunity and look forward to the bright future that the Publicity Club has next year under the exceptional leadership of Lauren Howe.
Cheers,
Karen Reynolds
